An IDF soldier was moderately wounded in the course of an IDF operation in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Sunday afternoon. He was evacuated to Soroka hospital in Beersheba by helicopter.

Doctors at Soroka said the soldier suffered from shrapnel wounds but was fully conscious. His treatment will be determined following a CT scan.

Two other soldiers were lightly wounded in the same incident, and two more were hurt in a separate incident, and sustained light injuries as well.

The soldiers were injured after Palestinians fired antitank missiles at forces operating near the refugee camp.

Golani Brigade and Armored Corps forces entered the area early Sunday morning in a bid to locate and destroy terror infrastructure and explosives. Several clashes have taken place between the soldiers and local gunmen throughout the day.

IDF sources noted that this was routine activity, and that the forces were instructed to remain vigilant regarding the highly-advanced weapons used by terrorists.

Three mortar shells were fired from northern Gaza at the western Negev Sunday afternoon. One of the mortars landed in a community in the area, causing damage to an agricultural vehicle and a building.

No injuries were reported. The other two mortars landed in open fields.

Six mortar shells landed in the region since the morning hours, causing no injuries or damage.
