Report: PA seizes rocket in Nablus

Palestinian news agency reports PA security forces uncover improvised projectile, 35 lbs of explosives hidden in Nablus Casbah

Palestinian security forces in Nablus seized an improvised projectile rocket and 35 lbs of explosives concealed in a bag in the city's Casbah, the 'Ma'an' news agency reported on Monday.

Officials within the Palestinian Authority refused to confirm the report.

The Israeli military has frequently expressed its concern that the technology used to manufacture and use rockets in Gaza would be transferred to the West Bank.

Earlier in the day a Palestinian youth was arrested at the Beit Furik checkpoint southeast of Nablus with a 60 mm mortar shell. The shell was detonated in a controlled manner and the youth was taken for questioning by security forces.

Earlier this month the IDF carried out a three-day operation in Nablus, arresting 23 wanted men and uncovering a laboratory in which Palestinian terror groups had attempted to manufacture Qassam rockets.

IDF officials said at the time that the operation "proves that as long as the IDF has full freedom of operation in Judea and Samaria, we will succeed in achieving results against terror organizations and if it weren't for this freedom of operation, things wouldn't look the same."
