Brig.-Gen. Udi Dekel appointed head of peace negotiations division
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Ehud Barak appointed Brig.-Gen. Udi Dekel head of the Israeli negotiations team. Dekel will be in charge of negotiating efforts with the Palestinians and attend talks on a final-status agreement.
Dekel, 51, is currently head of the IDF's Planning and Strategy Branch. He is set to take up the position within the coming week, once he is discharged from the army. (Roni Sofer)
