4 Qassam rockets fired at Sderot; no injuries

One of rockets lands inside southern town, rest hit Shaar Hanegev regional council

Four Qassam rockets were fired Monday morning from the northern Gaza Strip towards the southern town of Sderot.

One of the rockets landed inside the city, and the rest hit the Shaar Hanegev regional council. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

On Saturday evening, rocket alert sirens blasted through Sderot after Palestinians launched four Qassam rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

Two children suffering from shock and ear pain were evacuated to the Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon.

One of the rockets reportedly landed near a horse ranch on the city outskirts. The other Qassams landed in open areas in the western Negev. No damage was reported.

Palestinian terror groups have all but ceased the rocket attacks this past week. On Thursday two rockets were fired, landing near Ashkelon and Sderot. No injuries or damage were reported.

Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin stated during a cabinet security briefing Sunday that considerable amounts of high quality weaponry have been smuggled into Gaza through the breached border with Egypt along the Philadelphi route.

He added that “its is difficult to determine the precise amounts, but a great deal of high quality weaponry, including long range rockets, antitank missiles and anti-aircraft missiles, was smuggled into Gaza, and these are weapons that usually do not find their way into the Strip.”

Welfare workers at the Sderot Municipality continued to protest their employment conditions Monday. On Thursday, the workers closed down their office in protest of the security situation in the city and refused to answer telephone calls.

One of the workers told Ynet that the welfare workers were under impossible pressure, which made it difficult for them to aid the rocket-battered city's residents.
