Troops seize truck smuggling potassium nitrate into West Bank

Security forces in the West Bank seized 0.8 tons of potassium nitrate (saltpeter) hidden on an Israeli truck at a checkpoint south of Qalqiliya some three weeks ago. The joint IDF, Civil Administration and police operation to thwart the smuggling was only now cleared for publication.
The substance, which is used in the manufacturing of gun powder, is banned from the West Bank. (Efrat Weiss)
