Kurdish rebels claimed that two Turkish troops were killed and eight wounded Friday in border clashes after the Turkish military launched a limited ground incursion against their bases in northern Iraq. Turkish officials did not immediately confirm the report.
The incursion by what a Coalition military officer described as a few hundred troops was being carried out near the border. The officer, who could not be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the Turkish troops were conducting an operation limited strictly to an area controlled by Kurdish separatist rebels in the mountains near the border.(AP)
