Palestinians: 2 children killed in IDF attack on Gaza

In response to ongoing Qassam rocket fire on western Negev towns, IDF attacks central Gaza Strip; Palestinians report raid results in death of two children, another gravely injured

The rocket fire continues and so do IDF retaliations: Palestinian sources reported on Wednesday evening that two Palestinians, a child and an adolescent, were killed in an IDF attack near the Jabalya refugee camp in central Gaza. The army said the attack targeted terrorists about to launch rockets into Israel.

The Palestinians reported that the IDF fired a few missiles towards the former headquarters of the Civil Administration in the Strip after Qassam rockets were fired from the area. They added there were a few Qassam launching pads in the area and that a teenager was killed and two children were seriously injured.

One of the children later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital. The second child remains in critical condition. Twelve others, including four children, were also injured in the strike.

The heavy rocket barrage that rocked the western Negev on Wednesday came after a morning of IDF operations in the Strip.

At least 46 rockets have landed in Israel, one of which made impact in a parking lot at the Sapir College campus in Sderot resulting in the death of Roni Yechiah, a 47-year-old father of four. Another man was lightly injured and dozens suffered shock.

Ten Palestinians killed in one day

On the Palestinian end, there are reports of 10 dead in the last day of clashes in the Gaza Strip. Earlier, Palestinians reported that Israeli warplanes fired at a group of Palestinians in the area of the Jabalya. One man who has yet to be identified was killed in the incident.

Five members of Hamas' military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, were killed Wednesday morning after an IDF aircraft fired missiles at a bus and another vehicle carrying the group's operatives west of the Gaza town of Khan Younis.

According to local sources, the bus was hit by several missiles as it was approaching a naval force post near Gaza's coast. Several people were wounded in the strike.
