Egypt sends minor cabinet minister to Arab summit in latest snub to Syria
Egypt announced Wednesday it will send a minor Cabinet minister to this weekend's Arab summit in Damascus, rather than President Hosni Mubarak, in a snub to Syria and a signal of the deep divisions between Arab countries.
Relations have deteriorated between Syria and Arab allies of the United States over a string of issues, including the political crisis in Lebanon, Damascus' support for Palestinian Hamas militants and its alliance with Iran. (AP)
