This monstrous baby isn’t ours

Israel shouldn’t be caring for Gazans who insist on biting hand that feeds them

The Karni and Kerem Shalom Crossings are two pipelines through which Israel supplies the Gaza Strip with fuel, food, and humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, crossings such as “Nitzanei Shalom” are used by Palestinian laborers who enter Israel. Yet the Palestinians are constantly targeting the crossings and trying to kill our people – the ones who transfer to them what is so much needed for their existence.

It is like a devilish child that insists on biting the hand that feeds it. Well, this monstrous baby is not ours. We are not responsible for it.

Even if the terrorists were not targeting the crossings, we should not have provided anything to those who attempt to kill us and abduct our soldiers every day. All the more so, we should not be doing it when the terrorists from Gaza push this absurd situation to new heights by cutting off their own oxygen supply with their own hands.

The drivers of food trucks must rush to take cover when they are being shot at, while the employees of the fuel terminal are murdered while attempting to supply fuel to the Strip. Elsewhere, people whose job it is to let Palestinian laborers into Israel are being murdered while doing so.

But let’s leave the Palestinians alone for now, as there is not much we can expect of them. The Jews and Arabs started from a similar starting point in this country 60 years ago, yet while Israel is mostly busy in improving its condition, while defending itself, the Palestinians are almost exclusively engaged in attempts to hurt us, even if the damage caused to them is much greater than the damage they cause Israel.

As this has been their modus operandi for so many years, and there is no sign of change on the horizon, but rather, the opposite is true, let us focus on our own policy for a moment. What exactly goes through the minds of the prime minister and his ministers when they insist on sending Israeli civilians to the killings zones at the crossings? Why are they willing to pay with the lives of our citizens in order to transport supplies to Gaza or let Palestinian workers into Israel?

This monstrous baby wants to both eat and to kill those who feed it. Why do we need to pay the price?

Let Egypt take care of Gazans

The truth is that we don’t need to do it. Let the Egyptians feed their destructive protégé and its suicidal tendencies. After all, the Gazans are in fact hurting themselves, while we pay with the blood of our people in order to save them.

Had all of Gaza’s residents decided to jump off the roof as a protest against us, would we send our firefighters to bring them down even at the price of our firefighters’ lives? Had the Palestinians decided to drown themselves at sea, would we send teams of lifesavers to bring them back to shore even if the lifesavers were shot at? Obviously not. If so, why do we insist on sending supplies to the crossings while they are being fired at and blown up?

The Palestinians decided to stay without fuel or food from Israel? Let’s respect their wish. Let them get by on their own. Let’s quit the job of being the nanny of this destructive baby and hand it over to the care of someone from its own family – someone that is a bit more like it.
