Another Israeli on Hollywood's map: Lior Geller’s ‘Roads’ is one of five student films nominated for US Student Academy award

‘Roads,’ Lior Geller’s student film from Tel-Aviv University is one of five nominated foreign student films to compete for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 2008 Honorary Foreign Film award.
The 22-minutes film centers around 13 year-old Ismail, living in the drugged neighborhood of the city of Lod, and his life-altering encounter with a released shell-shocked soldier coming to buy drugs.
The five finalists, which have been selected from 45 entries representing 29 foreign countries, will represent Israel, Czechoslovakia, Slovania, Germany and Spain.
This is the 35th Annual Student Academy Awards competition, giving away prizes to student films in the narrative, documentary, animation and experimental categories. The ceremony will take place in the US on June 7th.
