German prosecutors charge woman with faking swastika attack

A German woman suspected of carving a swastika into her own skin has been charged with falsely claiming she was attacked by neo-Nazis, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The 18-year-old woman told authorities in November that four men attacked her after she tried to help a young girl they were harassing in the eastern town of Mittweida. She claimed the men threw her to the ground and that one of them carved a swastika into her hip. Prosecutors said they were investigating whether she carved the symbol herself, saying two independent medical assessments had reached that conclusion. (AP)
