Rocket barrage hits Negev

Altogether 10 rockets fired at Negev on Friday; one hits Sapir College causing damage, shock among witnesses

Four Qassam rockets were fired on Friday afternoon at Sderot and its area. One rocket fell near Sapir College, and Magen David Adom (MDA) evacuated a number of people who suffered from shock. The building was also damaged.

A second rocket landed in Sderot, and a third landed in open spaces. The fourth rocket has not yet been found. It apparently landed in Shaar HaNegev Regional Council. The rocket that landed in Sderot caused a 50-year old man to be injured by falling as he ran for cover.

 

A few minutes earlier, three mortar shells were fired towards the Negev. No injuries or damage were reported.

 

On Friday morning three mortar shells were also fired towards the western Negev. No injuries were reported. One shell fell near the border security fence and two others fell in Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

 

The funeral of Amnon Rosenberg, killed on Thursday by a mortar shell while working at a Nirlet facility in Nir Oz, also took place Friday afternoon. He was Rosenberg was 51-years old, and left a wife and three children behind.

 

His neighbor, Absalom Ben Zaken, eulogized Rosenberg and said, "You were a wonderful neighbor, always there to help me in times of need. Not everyone peered into your chest, but I did, and I discovered a big heart that I loved, and still love… I will miss you my friend."
