Deputy prime minister Eli Yishai said Wednesday that the anticipated truce in the Gaza Strip is “only an illusion of a truce.” Yishai refrained from voting on the truce during the cabinet meeting last week, but didn’t vote against it.
“I support the truce, but not a virtual one. The Palestinians are taking advantage of the truce in order to arm and plan attack strategies. The fact that Gilad Shalit’s release is not directly linked to the truce makes it volatile and is doing more harm than good.” (Roni Sofer)
