Free Kuntar if needed

Samir Kuntar is truly scum of the earth, but we freed worse killers before

For years now, Israeli media outlets as well as various government officials have been discussing whether convicted murderer Samir Kuntar should be released.

In order to remove any doubt or trace of misunderstanding I will say this: Samir Kuntar is a despicable murderer, truly the scum of the earth, and an enemy of the human race.

We can greatly regret the fact that on that night almost 30 years ago, when he murdered the Haran family in the northern town of Nahariya, another bullet was not fired in his direction. Yet it is too late to change that now.

Yet at this time, it is us who are turning him into a symbol, even more than the Lebanese are doing it. Another wretched man who will be glorified thanks to out efforts (by the way, this is also how we created Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, after we tried to assassinate him in Jordan.)

However, over the years, the State of Israel has released worse murders than Samir Kuntar.

How it all started

I personally remember how it all started: After the Litani Operation in 1978, on the order of then-Defense Minister Ezer Weizman, we freed 80 of the worst murderers caught up to that point in exchange for one IDF soldier who went to get some figs across the Lebanese border and was nabbed there.

Almost all of those 80 terrorists were convicted and sentenced to several life terms in prison for the dozens of murders they committed. In fact, at the time this meant that we largely emptied out our prisons.

So if there is no other choice, we need to send this Kuntar back home in the framework of another prisoner swap. After almost 30 years in jail, as far as we are concerned he can go to hell.
