More violence near fence: Two Border Guard police officers sustained light wounds Friday afternoon during a leftist demonstration near the Palestinian village of Naalin, west of Ramallah.

Dozens of protestors arrived in the area Friday in order to rally against the construction of the West Bank security fence. The demonstrators included left-wing activists, Palestinians, and foreigners.

The protesters at the site hurled stones at Border Guard forces, who responded with crowd-dispersal means. The wounded Border Guard police officers were treated at the scene.

Earlier Friday, a senior IDF officer said that a total of 25 police officers and soldiers were hurt in the past month during riots in Naalin.

"In the first half of 2008 we recorded a dramatic rise, both in the scope of protests by Israelis and Palestinians, as well as in the scope of activity by radical rightists in relation to the removal of illegal structures," the officer said.

IDF officials say that the West Bank security fence sustained NIS 500,000 (roughly $150,000) in damages as a result of leftist protests this year.

On Thursday, two Border Guard officers and an IDF soldier were lightly wounded in Naalin after protestors hurled stones at them.
