Georgia: 50 Russian tanks enter Gori

The head of Georgia's national security council says about 50 Russian tanks have entered the strategic city of Gori despite a cease-fire agreement.

Alexander Lomaia said Wednesday that the tanks entered the city about 9:45 am (5:45 GMT), about eight hours after Georgia accepted a cease-fire previously agreed by Russia to end the conflict that broke out last week. Independent confirmation of Lomaia's claim was not immediately possible. (AP)
