State files indictments in Margarita Lautin murder case

Tel Aviv District Prosecutor charges Ronen Ben Adi, Shimon Sabah with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, ask they be remanded

The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor filed charges against Ronen Ben Adi and Shimon Sabah Thursday for their alleged involvement in the murder of 31-year-old Margarita Lautin at the Bat Yam promenade, in mid August.

Ben Adi (39) and Sabah (41) were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and first degree murder.

According to the indictment, the two were planning to kill Rami Meira and Motti Hassin, with Ben Adi acting as the hitman and Sabah acting as the getaway driver.

The two are accused of firing at a group of people sitting at one of the promenade's restaurants. Lautin, who was caught in the crossfire, suffered fatal abdominal and chest injuries while trying to protect her daughter.

The State asked the court to remand both defendants to custody for the duration of the proceedings, citing they posed a danger to the public.
