Sri Lankan jets strike rebels, fighting kills 55
Sri Lankan jets struck Tamil Tiger rebel positions on Monday after fighting killed at least 55 in what has become the bloodiest phase of the long-running civil war in nearly a decade, the military said.
The military is pushing through the jungle on several fronts to surround the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) headquarters at Kilinochchi, in the north of the Indian Ocean island nation. (Reuters)
