Report: IDF kills Palestinian teen near Bethlehem

Palestinian sources say soldiers operating in West Bank village of Tekoa opened fire at a group of locals, killing one of them. IDF: Palestinians stoned tourist bus, injured two women

Palestinian sources reported Saturday that a 16-year-old boy was shot dead by IDF forces in the West Bank village of Tekoa, near Bethlehem.

 

According to the sources, Israeli soldiers operating in the village opened fire at a group of Palestinians, critically wounding Hassan Abed el-Hamid, who died of his injuries a short while later.

 

The army said that at around noon a group of Palestinians began hurling stones a tourist bus traveling near Tekoa, lightly injuring two women who were evacuated to an Israeli hospital for treatment. According to the IDF, soldiers who arrived at the scene tried to disperse the Palestinians and reports of a dead Palestinian teen are being checked.

 

The Palestinians further reported that two youngsters were injured during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the village following the shooting incident.

 

Earleir Saturday a Palestinian boy was injured in Hebron when a military vehicle hit him. The boy, whose condition is unknown as of yet, was evacuated to a hospital in the city, but was afterwards transferred to an Israeli medical center.

 

The IDF is investigating the circumstances of the case.

 

On Wednesday evening a 22-year-old Palestinian was killed by IDF forces in Nablus' Ras al-Ein neighborhood. Palestinian sources said the man was killed when soldiers opened fire at a number of locals during the arrest of wanted Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades operative, Jaf'ar Jua'ara.
