Mofaz to return to politics after Rosh Hashana
Transportation minister provides Cabinet secretary with exact dates of return from break after previously speaking of potential termination of political career, finding other ways to serve country
This sheds some light on the very foggy details surrounding the rumors about Mofaz’s political future.
This small revelation is the only hint received following his announcement to take a break from the political arena scant hours after his loss to Kadima Chairwoman Tzipi Livni in their party’s primaries
He alluded he would find "other ways" to serve the country.
However, the letter he sent to the Cabinet secretary set clear return dates from the break, which Mofaz called “a private vacation.”
While Mofaz’s letter provided some indication of his intentions, his associates are continuing to blur his political career-related plans.
Kadima sources told Ynet that it is still unclear if and when Mofaz will announce his to return to politics in full.
Meanwhile Livni's affiliates say she is willing to offer Mofaz the opportunity to serve as a member of Kadima's leadership if he does indeed return to politics. Livni and Mofaz had scheduled a meeting immediately after the primaries, in which Livni planned to offer him the office of foreign minister.
A source affiliated with Livni told Ynet that "if Mofaz decides to return and cooperate in leading a faction he lost in the primary election, the door will be open to him and the planned position will be offered."

In the last few days, the option of appointing Mofaz as foreign minister and placing
Minister Ruhama Avraham-Balila in his stead, have been discussed.
The Cabinet secretary confirmed the Mofaz-written letter and in a conversation with Ynet noted that the official treatment of this issue is just like in any private vacation and said, “As far as the Cabinet secretary is concerned, Minister Mofaz is returning to his positions next Thursday,” said Oved Yehezkel.
