New initiative enables people worldwide to send soldiers Rosh Hashana cards
Standing Together launched new project ahead of High Holidays, allows people to send armed force special greeting cards online
Standing Together, a non-profit organization, which is dedicated to supporting Israeli soldiers on active duty, has launched a new Rosh Hashana initiative, enabling people worldwide to send Jewish New Year cards to IDF soldiers.
The group offers the service, free of charge, via its website.
"Young men and women risk their lives everyday, all year long, to protect the Jewish homeland," said the organization in a press release. "As Jews worldwide start the New Year, we pray for peace and safety our soldiers throughout Israel."
The initiative was also partially made in honor of Hamas held IDF soldier Gilad Shalit: "Kidnapped IDF Staff-Sergeant. Gilad Shalit turned 22 this year and while the vast majority of his fellow soldiers returned to their civilian lives, he continues to languish in terrorist hands," said the statement.
"(We want to) show Gilad and his family that we have not forgotten him. He is in our prayers for the Rosh Hashana and we hope to deliver the good wishes to Gilad directly. If this is not possible, people all over the world will stand together and show our support to the Shalit family," it concluded.
Standing Together, is closely affiliated with Friends of the IDF and the Central Fund for Israel. Together the groups work for the welfare of IDF soldiers.
