Israeli engineer wins Swedish technology prize
Itai Danielski awarded prestigious Stora Property Prize for assay probing variations in energy use in Stockholm construction projects
Israel's Itai Danielski, 35, was recently awarded the Sweden's prestigious “Stora Property Priset 2008” (Large Property Award), along with a $7,600 prize.
The Stora, sponsored by the International Services Group ISS, rewarded student essays with innovative thinking in the field of property management.
Danielski has a Bachelor's degree in Physics and BSC in Materials Engineering from the Technion, and a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He shared first place with the co-author of his paper, Jonas Kunze, from the University of Uppsala.

The two's essay, titled "Large variations in energy utilized with new buildings in Stockholm", examined the methods and systems for energy-efficient construction.
In the brief detailing the reasons for awarding the paper first place, the ISS panel noted that "The results illustrated the complexity of achieving set goals, which calls for reflection. The analysis and findings are of great benefit to both the construction and property development as society's decision-makers. Labor quality is a major contribution to an industry that will benefit from more research and development."
Property Management, said Markus Kristiansson, CEO of ISS in Sweden, "is an industry that represents large capital values and is of big socio-economic importance. But it is also an industry that is in need of a hefty boost. With Stora Property Prize we aim to contribute to this by high lighting innovative ideas from those who represent the future of the industry."
The awards were presented by Peter Gudmundson, Head of the Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (Royal Institute of Technology), in Stockholm.
