Russia wants EU treaty talks to resume in Oct - envoy

Russia sees no reason why talks with the EU on a new partnership pact should not resume this month as it complies with a French-brokered ceasefire in Georgia, its envoy to the EU said on Thursday.
"We are certainly looking forward to the resumption of negotiations on the future of (the) Russia-EU agreement," envoy Vladimir Chizhov told reporters. "I see no reason why that should not happen before the end of this month." He said the EU's decision on Sept 1 to postpone the talks had been linked to the implementation of the ceasefire. (Reuters)
