Three IDF soldiers were arrested for suspicion of planning to sell grenades they had stolen from Border Guard officers.

The grenades were found at the home of one of the soldiers. An indictment is expected to be filed in the case within days.

Ten days ago, the Duhifat Battalion soldiers, of the Infantry Corps Kfir Brigade, allegedly stole grenades from a Border Guard jeep, while patrolling the South Mount Hebron area. The soldiers then took the grenades back to their base and hid them in a sack.

A Military Police investigation revealed that the soldiers got rid of four grenades by secretly placing them among the belongings of one of their commanders, while the remaining grenades were taken to one of the soldier's homes with the intent of selling them.

Four gas grenades and a stun grenade were found by Military Police officers during a search of the soldier's home. During their interrogation the suspects gave conflicting versions regarding the plan to sell the grenades.

A Kfir Brigade commander said Military Police were tipped off by a source within the battalion.

The soldiers, who are represented by the Military Defender's Office, will remain in custody until next Wednesday.

The Military Prosecution is expected to file the indictments by that time. The charges are expected to include counts of weapons theft; and some of the soldiers may also be charged with intent to sell arms.
