Calm has yet to be completely restored to southern Israel as Thursday evening also saw rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip.

Two Qassam rockets launched from northern Gaza shortly after 8:00 pm landed in open areas near the Sedot HaNegev Regional Council, causing no injuries or damage.

Earlier in the day two additional rockets were fired into Israel, also causing no injuries. Since Tuesday more than 50 rockets have been fired towards Israeli territory. Defense establishment officials told Ynet on Wednesday night that the following 24 would be crucial in determining whether the ceasefire Israel signed with Gaza's armed groups in June would hold.

Palestinian sources reported that a member of the Islamic Jihad's military wing was killed Wednesday night by Israel Air Force fire in the village of Tal a-Za'atar in the northern Strip.

The sources said four more gunmen were wounded in the attack. The IDF Spokesperson's Office said the incident was a concrete attack on a ring that launched a rocket on Israel from the northern Strip.

efense establishment officials tried to keep a lid on the unusual operation that IDF forces carried out Tuesday night, some 250 meters inside Gaza.
