Jewish Film Festival marks 10th anniversary

Festival opens in Jerusalem in December, to host prominent moviemakers from across the world, panels on Jewish identity

The Jewish Film Festival that opens in Jerusalem on December 13 celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The festival will host directors and actors from across the world, hold discussions on theology and Jewish communities abroad and screen Israeli documentaries and features on Jewish life.

The festival will also host a retrospective for Argentine director Daniel Burman, who will screen in Jerusalem his recent film, "Empty Nest", which depicts the story of an ageing screenwriter who's struggling with a writer's block due to a midlife crisis and with the emigration of his young daughter to Israel.

During the festival Israeli producer Micha Shagrir will be honored for his contribution to the development of Jewish and Israeli cinema.

"Over the last four decades, during which he has engaged in cinematic work, he has probably dealt with the documentation of Israel more than anyone else in the industry," the festival's organizers said in a statement.
