Bank of Israel: Funds transferred to PA to prevent collapse of shekel system

The Bank of Israel commented on the criticism voiced against Defense Minister Ehud Barak's decision to transfer NIS 100 million (about $25.4 million) to the Palestinian Authority, saying that the bank "operates according to the government's policy and decisions."
The statement went on to say that "the Bank of Israel worked to transfer the money, one of the reasons being that it won't be responsible for the collapse of a banking system using the Israeli shekel." (Ynet)
