PM's Office: IDF instructed to act against rocket fire for lengthy period

Published: 12.27.08, 13:15 / Israel News

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said in a statement that "following Hamas' violations of the ceasefire agreement and the incessant firing on the residents of Israel's southern region, a decision was reached on December 24 by the Ministerial Committee on National Security according to which the IDF will act for a lengthy period of time to bring an end to the rocket fire.

"Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni were authorized to determine the timing and the method of this operation. They decided on this morning's aerial strike in Gaza," it said. (Roni Sofer)
