Police reinforcements deployed around two mosques in Tiberias Thursday after riots broke out in the area.
Two tires were set on fire near one of the mosques, located on the city's boardwalk, and two youths were arrested on suspicion that they torched a tire on the roof of the other mosque.
During the evening police received calls warning against Jewish youths that may attempt to cause damage to two abandoned mosques in Tiberias. A patrol car was sent out but reported no unusual findings.
Officers conducting a search later found the tire that had been ignited on the roof of one of the mosques. A few minutes later a patrol car encountered dozens of youths burning tires on the street near the other mosque.
Following the incidents police sent reinforcements to the area while investigating the youths' intentions, and whether they were acting on behalf of someone else.
