As Operation Cast Lead entered its seventh day, the IDF has demonstrated it will not hesitate to target senior terror operatives, as Palestinian sources in Gaza reported that the IAF struck the house of former Hamas Minister of Prisoner Affairs Atef Adwan. The IDF had yet to confirm the report.

The IDF did, however, confirm reports of a strike on five tunnels along the Philadelphi Route, as well a strike on the Jabalya home of Muhammad Maatuk, a known terror operative.

The IDF said the house was used as a weapons' storage facility and a weapon's lab, as well as an entrance to an underground tunnel.

Palestinian sources also reported that an Israeli aircraft struck the Nuseirat refugee camp house of senior Hamas leader Imad Akel.

A series of explosions followed the raid indicating that the house was apparently used to store munitions.

Hanan Greenberg contributed to the report
