After a relatively quiet evening in the southern communities Wednesday, terrorists fired a barrage of four rockets from the Gaza Strip just before midnight.
Two rockets landed in open spaces near Beersheba, one fell near Ashkelon and the fourth landed in Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.
Earlier, just 25 minutes after the "humanitarian pause" declared by the IDF came to an end in the afternoon, Hamas fired two Grad rockets towards southern Israel. One landed inside Beersheba; no injuries or damage have been reported.
"The floor shook. We went out and saw that it landed near here… Just a few meters to the side and we would have had a disaste herer."
Earlier Wednesday, a Grad rocket landed in a residential area in Ashkelon. Two people were treated for shock by Magen David Adom paramedics. Police forces, firefighter units and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The defense establishment estimated this week that the rocket fire on Israel would increase, and that Hamas may fire longer range rockets as the operation in Gaza expands.
Israel held its fire for several hours around noontime Wednesday in favor of a "humanitarian pause," enabling Gazans to leave their homes safely. IDF sources said the noontime pause was meant to allow the Strip's residents to stock up on essential provisions.
