Operation Cast Lead's 13th day began with yet another rocket salvo on  southern Israel, as Palestinians fired 11 Grad and Qassam rockets at Ashkelon, Ashdod and the western Negev communities.

The rockets landed in open areas, causing no harm.

Commenting on Thursday's Katyusha fire on northern Israel, Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin said that "as someone who has been dealing with these kinds of incidents for the past two week, I find this very upsetting. I just hope they don’t exacerbate the situation. We know how easily you can get dragged into nonstop fighting."

Five of the rockets fired from northern Gaza landed in Eshkol Regional Council limits, causing no harm. Local residents told Ynet that IDF overnight activates in the area were well heard.

"It's exhausting," a southern kibbutz resident told Ynet. "

"There is a lot of patience for the situation and it's something we know we would have to put up with. We're ready to do it if it means having peace and quiet in the long run."
