Earlier Sunday, a paratroopers unit foiled a Hamas attempt to send terrorists to infiltrate Israeli territory. The group uncovered a tunnel beginning some 300 meters from Gaza's border with Israel, adjacent to the Karni crossing in the northern part of the Strip, and leading towards Israel.
IDF sources estimate that there are additional such tunnels that have been dug in recent months. Three months ago, during the ceasefire, an IDF force neutralized a similar tunnel in central Gaza, which had reached under the border fence.
