Abbas: Hamas will never take over West Bank

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas asserted Friday that his Hamas rivals could "never" take control of the West Bank by force as they had done in the Gaza Strip in 2007.
"Hamas's successful coup in Gaza was because we wanted to avoid military confrontation, but what happened over there will not be repeated in the West Bank. Never, "Abbas said after a meeting with Slovenian President Danilo Turk in Ramallah on Friday. (AFP)
