Assad: EU must increase involvement in Mideast
Syrian President Bashar Assad urged the European Union to exhibit more involvement in solving the problems in the Middle East, Syrian news agency SANA reported Monday.
During his meeting with Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin, Assad said the two agreed that "the siege should be lifted off the Palestinian people and all border crossing to Gaza should be opened to allow for the transfer of humanitarian aid to the Strip and for its reconstruction." (AFP)
