A caricature by Or Reichert of Rehovot was selected to grace the Reuters building located in New York's famed Times Square.

The cartoon, which features a panhandling US president under the caption "Obama presents: New Deal Emergency Plan" – a reference to the global economic meltdown – was chosen as the cartoon-of the-month by the website BuzziNews – Only the Good News in Cartoons.

During the year-long contest, surfers vote for their favorite cartoon each and every month, and then select the all-around winner from the 12 caricatures selected throughout the year.

"This is a step up for me, and I hope I'll reach the end of the competition with the largest number of caricatures and many votes," said the 25-year-old Reichert, who has participated in similar on-line international competitions in the past, including a contest that was held in Iran.

"It's mind-boggling – hundreds of thousands of people in New York are seeing my caricature in one of the most well-known and busy intersections in the world; it's almost incomprehensible," he said.
