The Air Force (IAF) fired several missiles in the southern part of the Gaza Strip on Friday, causing no injuries, Hamas and residents said.
Residents said a series of air strikes targeted open areas near the town of Rafah and smuggling tunnels along the border with Egypt.
An Israeli military spokesman confirmed the air strikes but gave no further details.
Israel warned this week that it would respond "disproportionately" to any occasion of fire from Gaza.
Israel and Hamas declared separate ceasefires on Jan. 18, ending a 22-day Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
