Saudi intelligence chief Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud delivered a verbal message to Syrian President Bashar Assad stressing the importance of "consultation and coordination" between them, the official Syrian news agency said Sunday.
The meeting suggests a thaw in relations between two countries that have long been on opposite sides of most of the major issues in the Arab world. Syrian-Saudi relations have been strained since the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who had Saudi citizenship. (AP)
