Lebanese journal spotlights Israeli anti-war publication
Influential literary journal 'Alghaoon' dedicates cover story to anthology protesting Gaza operation published in Israel in January
An Israeli art and poetry anthology against the IDF's offensive in Gaza has made it to the cover of a prominent Lebanese literary journal.
The anthology was published in January only days after the Israeli army launched its ground assault in the Gaza Strip.
Among the contributors to the publication were poets Aharon Shabtai, Shimon Adaf, Rami Saari, Tal Nitzan, Tawfiq Ziad, and artists Roee Rozen, Itzik Rennert, Ohad Maromi, Hila Lulu Lin, Fahed Halabi and others.
Some 1,000 copies of the anthology have been printed at a printing house in Kfar Kassem, after a local printer refused to print the issue due to its content.
The Beirut-based "Alghaoon" journal, which is considered one of the most influential publications in Lebanon, dedicated the cover story of its latest issue to the anthology, and included translations into Arabic of a number of the poems published in the anthology.
In the article "Alghaoon" highlighted the fact that the 67 artists, mostly young ones, produced the anthology as a protest act against the war shortly after it started, while going against the prevalent mood among the Israeli public, a majority of which supported the operation.
