Turkey: allegations of execution of Kurds probed

Turkey's state-run Anatolia news agency says Prosecutor Atilla Ozturk has launched an investigation into allegations, made by Kurdish activists, that several Kurds were executed by security forces during clashes in the 1990s. He is visiting a state-run oil facility Wednesday to examine some wells where the victims were allegedly buried.
Tensions are running high in Turkey's Kurdish-dominated southeast following the 10th anniversary of the capture of Kurdish rebel chief Abdullah Ocalan on Feb. 15. There were more clashes between Kurdish protesters and police on Wednesday. (AP)
