Iran's Rafsanjani: Israel's claims of nuclear program nonsense

Former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani reiterated that his country's nuclear program was meant for peaceful purposes, and not for the development of nuclear weapons.
"In Friday prayers, we never make false promises. Therefore, I declare that Iran's nuclear program is not for nuclear weapons, and we are still willing to prove this through negotiations," he said. Commenting on Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak's statement this week that "time was running out" on the Iranian threat, Rafsanjani said, "This is nonsense." (AFP)
