Qassam, mortar shell fired at Negev

Rocket explodes in open area in Eshkol Regional Council, later mortar shell lands near factory

Rockets continued to shower the Negev Wednesday as a Qassam fired from Gaza fell in an open area in Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

A short while later a mortar shell exploded near a factory located in a kibbutz in Shaar HaNegev Regional Council.

Earlier Wednesday, two Qassam rockets fired from the northern Gaza Strip landed in open spaces within Eshkol Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage in those attacks.

Dozens of rockets and mortar shells have been fired towards the South since Israel ended its military offensive in Gaza. "True, this is not the same amount that was fired before Operation Cast Lead, but that's not the issue," Eshkol Regional Council head Haim Yalin told Ynet. "A sovereign country cannot allow rockets to be fired at its territory.

"Meanwhile, we are continuing to lead normal lives under insane conditions, and the government continues to ignore the situation. I guess the Iranian centrifuges are more important than what has been going on here for the past eight years," he said.
