Assad: Olmert agreed to withdraw from Golan Heights

Syrian President Bashar Assad said in an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had informed Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Israel was willing to withdraw from the Golan Heights.
"We were within reach of an agreement," he said. As for the new right-wing government, Assad said he was not worried by Benjamin Netanyahu but by the Israeli society's turn towards rightwards. (Ynet)
