Britain's charity watchdog said Monday it was investigating the UK-based organizers of an aid convoy into the Gaza Strip. The Charity Commission said in a statement that it is trying to find out how Viva Palestina uses its money, adding that it has yet to receive an explanation from the group's leadership.
Lawmaker George Galloway, Viva Palestina's best-known backer, said a response to the committee's
queries was in the mail and that its investigation was unjustified. "If anyone needs investigating, it is the Charity Commission itself," Galloway said. (AP)
