IDF foils pipe bomb attack

Givati force called to Beit Dajan area near Nablus after Molotov cocktails thrown at Israeli car detains three Palestinians from village in possession of pipe bomb, improvised weapons, maps of area

Days after a terror attack in a Haifa mall was foiled, security forces managed to prevent another attack early Wednesday morning when a Givati force detained three Palestinians suspected of planning a terror attack using a pipe bomb. The suspects were transferred to security forces for questioning.

The suspects were arrested near the village of Beit Dajan, southeast of Nablus, when in possession of a pipe bomb, improvised weapons and maps of the area.

The military force arrived at the scene after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at an Israeli vehicle driving on the road leading to the Elon Moreh settlement. No damage or injuries were caused in the incident, and soldiers identified the terrorists and caught them after a chase.

In February, a Givati force captured two terrorists in the same area, carrying improvised weapons and Molotov cocktails.

A week-and-a-half ago two police officers were killed in a shooting attack near the community of Massua in the Jordan Valley. An investigation of the incident revealed that the shooters staged a flat tire and then shot the officers when they stopped to offer assistance.

A car jack was also found at the scene of the crime, which may have been used by the shooters to gain credibility in the situation they had staged.
