At least 1,500 protestors took to the streets of the principality of Monaco on Thursday to denounce job losses and deteriorating economic conditions.
In a rare show of discontent in a place famed for millionaires and celebrity residents, musicians from Monaco's philharmonic orchestra, civil servants and gardeners who tend to public parks marched side by side in a protest that lasted several hours. "Given the size (of Monaco) and given some 40,000 workers in total, it was a good performance," USM union spokesman Alex Falce said. (Reuters)
