The United States does not believe in the economic peace principle suggested by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to American and Israeli sources involved in meetings Thursday with US President Barack Obama's special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell.
A source in Mitchell's entourage said, "We have yet to be convinced that there is a real alternative to the official US policy, which states that the solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies in the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state." (Roni Sofer)
