Mubarak congratulates Israel on Independence Day
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has sent Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres a telegram congratulating the Jewish state on its 61st anniversary.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my great hope that the peace process in the Middle East will get back on track and will lead to the cessation of violence and bloodshed," the Egyptian leader wrote. (Ronen Medzini)
