UN food body: No need to cull pigs, stop movement
None
The United Nations food agency said on Thursday there was no justification for culling pigs or limiting their movements because there was no evidence the influenza virus affected pigs or made their meat dangerous.
"Stepping up swine influenza control measures in pigs, in the absence of the A/H1N1 virus, such as control of movements and culling, is not justified," said Joseph Domenech, chief veterinary officer of the Food and Agriculture Organization. (Reuters)
