4 disabled children killed in crash

Tragic accident at busy junction kills six and wounds three, all residents of Kfar Kassem

Six residents of Kfar Kassem were killed in a tragic car accident Thursday, four of them children with various disabilities. Three people also suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, and are currently hospitalized.

Omar Sarsour, who heads Kfar Kassem's education department, said guidance counselors and psychologists had been sent to speak with family members. "Some of the victims are children I know personally, and I know their families. It's very painful," he said.

"This is a tragedy for everyone, especially in Kfar Kassem where everyone knows one another," Rami Amar, a relative of the driver, told Ynet. "Nobody knows anything. We don't know what happened."

Police Chief Dudi Cohen said two severe accidents had occurred within a week, leading to 10 deaths altogether. He said a preliminary investigation in both cases had led to the conclusion that they had been caused by human error.

Sami Fadila, who drives disabled children from Kfar Kassem and Jaljulia to their special schools in Tira, said he knew the junction at which the accident had occurred. "The turn left is very dangerous, the junction is very busy," he said.
